Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a scope for my K-22 but need some assistance. I only own handguns right now but will probably eventually get into sniper rifles, etc. but for right now I think a scope on my .22 will be fun to practice long range bench rest type shots with.

I don't want to have to drill and tap if possible since I'm dealing with a vintage Smith, but I heard that some mounts utilize the rear sight mount, is this true? Also.... what type of scope would you guys recommend? I realize that is like asking a car guy what type of motor oil is best but I am completely new to scopes so any info will help.

thanks ahead of time.

Weaver makes one, but I've only used a B-Square on a Model 17. Here's the Weaver to give you an idea.

There's also one on that page that comes with rings.

I'm still looking for a pic of the B-Square. I have one on a Model 17 with an old 2x Burris pistol scope. I have a K-frame .17 HMR that I'll probably put a Weaver, Burris or Leupold scope on, but it's drilled and tapped with a Weigand mount on it. I haven't decided whether to go with a 2x or a small variable.

I downloaded the B-Square catalog and I don't see the one I'm looking for, the one with the clamp on the front. I think this is it and they only have one.

so is there any way to get around drilling and tapping the frame?

The B-Square mount John showed you, doesn't need D&T.
www.aimtech-mounts.com also offers a "no gunsmith" mount. "Smith & Wesson "K" frame black,..AMSK-1 ...63.25 all models"

any idea on how much it costs?

IIRC... C&S charged me $35 to D&T this K frame. I'm sure most local gunsmiths would charge about the same.

Good Luck...
