I've got a nice new Anschutz 22lr rifle. I'm going to be doing a mix of shooting offhand and with a bipod on the picnic table at the farm. No competitions. Distances will probably be between 25 and 100 yards I would think.

I've got a Leupold VX3i 6.5-18x40 on my other one but that's more scope than I need for this. I don't need S&B quality but it's a nice gun I don't want to put junky glass on it either.

I generally buy Zeiss buy my last 3 optic purchases have been Leupold-----one being a Freedom 2x7 rimfire that's very nice for not much money.

I just realized I had a pair of 3-9s down in the basement. There's a Leupold vx freedom 3-9x33 EFR and a Meopta Meopro 3-9x40.

I'd like more magnification but either one of these would be nice at least for the time being.

a lot of guys over on rimfirecentral like the clear ridge optics. there are deals to be had on close out nikons as well. I have weaver grand slam 3-12x (discontinued) on my cz 455, and it is vastly superior to my leupold freedoms. The freedoms have simply awful turret feel. But I like the 3-12x range on a 22.

I’d mount it and not look back. I like that scope a lot. If I were purchasing I’d get a Clearidge Ultra RM though. When I bought mine eight years ago I compared it to a VX-2 EFR 3-9x33 AO as thoroughly as I could with the expectation it would not pass muster. It did though much to my surprise and cost $100.00 less.

Well I managed to do some wheeling and dealing and got some cashj

I'll have to check those out also. Another option I've got that I could stick on there is a Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 4-12x40AO with a fine duplex. It's made for an AR platform but parallax goes down to 20 yards and it's a little over 12" long so it wouldn't be too huge on this petite 18" rifle.

But probably the VX is the way to go. It's meant for that.

Everyone has different wants and needs. The Mark AR might suit you better than the VX-Freedom. For my needs the Freedom would be ample.

Turned out what I thought was the vx-freedom was something else in the wrong box. Ugh. On the plus side at least for now the AR scope is on there. It's actually not bad at least for the time being.

My wife was looking pretty hard at one of these Leupold 4X “Rimfire” scopes for the Ruger “American Rimfire” .22 I gave her for her birthday a couple of weeks ago. However, everywhere we’ve looked for them since is “temporarily” sold out, or so they claim.

So, my wife has turned her attention to one of these Vortex 1.75-5X scopes.

I know my wife (I should seeing as how we’ve been married for 49 years), and I’d bet dollars to donuts she’s going to get the Vortex.;)

I had one of those for a while till I let my uncle have it. For my eyes, at 5x, it was significantly brighter and had a wider field of view than a burris ff2 2-7x set on 5x. It's a nice scope. I liked it so much I bought a 4-12x diamondback. Now that was a turd of a scope that I got rid of quickly.

A few years back when I was doing some wheeling and dealing I got a rifle with a 4-12x Diamondback. It didn't do much for me. That was about the same time a friend was interviewing for a quality control manager job at the Vortex plant up in Wisconsin. He mentioned my unhappiness. He didn't get that job and I always hoped I wasn't responsible. :O

There seems to be some confusion about things like this these days but HE is responsible for the things that come out of his mouth. :)
