Does scope magnification change your zero?

For example at 100yds if I use 9x zoom and then shoot at a actual deer with 12x Zoom at 100yds will this change my zero.

I ask because I want to get a BDC Reticle but they use what is called ballistic magnification. I will attach this link which I got in the Muzzle Loading Forum on a question I asked about a scope for my muzzleloader.

If you use the same bullets, powder, etc. and change the magnification of the scope, the BDC will no longer be accurate. What that literature suggests is that for your particular load, there is a BDC "sweet spot" of magnification that will make the reticle line up with your bullets actual path.

You'll have to spend the time trigger time to figure out which magnification level makes the BDC work for you, then make sure your scope is set to it before you use the BDC.
