I have a military Mauser 98 manufactured by FN and I have had the clip stripper removed and the receiver drilled to take a scope mount. I'm using a Leupold one piece base but it has only one fastening screw at the rear ( two at the front) I am finding the base comes loose after 20-30 rounds through my 25-06. Does anyone know of a mount for this Mauser that has two rear fastening screws. Apparently this is a common problem, having only one rear fastening screw.

talley lightweights have 2 screws and is what i used for my mauser until just recently w/ no problems.

i don't have any intention of putting them back on at this point. pm me if you want to work a deal on them.

If you don't want to drill another hole you can also just use some blue loctite, torque it properly and it will never come loose.

If you really don't want it to come out you can use a dab of red loctite. It is semi-permanent which means that you have to use heat to break it loose should you need to. That's what I use on screws that I don't want moving.
