I have a set of 1"rings/mounts that were designed to mount on grooved receivers. I tried both a Leupold VXII and a V-9 Weaver on a 151mb Mossberg, 4-C Savage and a Remington. In all cases, I ran out of windage and the best I could do was 1" right at 25 yards. I love the ring mount combo but I need to replace with something that works. I must assume mine are misaligned or whatever, but I cannot use them on my three rifles. What brand or design do you recommend for grooved receivers?! Thanks in advance, Tom

Try turning the rings around. If that makes it off too far the other way, turn one of them back the original direction. Looks crazy to have one ring one way and the other opposite but whatever works.

Thank you sir! I will start with one turned around and see which way that throws me! I tried everything else but your idea should work! Thanks, Tom

I had an issue like that with a different setup. you can try shimmnig under the base with a piece of aluminum can, but in the end I went with some burris pos-align rings that have plastic inserts of varying thickness'. I was able to move my scope 30 MOA that way.

Thanks guys! Even just turning one of the mounts threw it too far the other way! I finally gave up and shimmed inside the one ring to bring the windage to the middle! Thanks, Tom

Most mounts that fit a dovetailed, Grooved Receiver work on a Pinch system where one side is Fixed, and the clamp squeezes to clamp it on the receiver.
If you determine which ring is off, and which direction you need to go with the scope, you can file the Fixed Claw and get it to center better.
But when you set up a scope by adjusting the Mounts, those rings may not be right for other rifles.
You are setting up a Scope , Mount and Rifle as a Unit, and will not be able to be swapped to another rifle any time you want to use one scope on several rifles.
