I have a new Remington 700 ps .308.
I bought a used Springfield armory 4-16x56 scpoe at a gunshow to hold me over until I save my pennies for a leupold.
I bought a leupold one piece mount and rings.
So far so good.
Went to the range to sight it in and thats when everything went wrong!
The rings kept coming loose.I tigtened them down with the supplied torx wrench.I made'em pretty tight, but I know that small screws strip real easy!
Then the screws that tighten the rear mount to the base would come loose and the scope would flop around. :uhoh:
Should I put locktite on the screws?
One of the Ole Boys at the range said something about rosin on the tube and rings to prevent it from sliding around.
Help!

What kind of one piece mount do you have? Is it the windage adjustable one? Obviously, you shouldn't put anything on the windage screws. The Loctite on the rear base screws is a personal thing. I have a VX-I in Leupold rings and bases (I have a 2-piece), and it seems pretty solid just using the Torx driver.

loose rings and bases

sometimes the screws bottom out before the base becoms tight-might check

Just a crazy Question

You did order and install 30mm rings on that Springfield scope, Right?
Leupolds are great scopes but so is the Springfield- why change?

Might wanna try clear finger nail polish on the screws......if you ever need to get them off heat loosens the polish. Thats how i did my 700 using the exact same rings/bases. Also I cant remember if it was my 700 or my marlin 1895 that I had to grind down the base screws because they were bottoming out.
