I recently bought a sporterized Rock Island 1903 rifle that has been rechambered in 375 H&H Magnum. The rifle currently as a Williams peep sight on the rear but the receiver has also been drilled and tapped for scope mounts in the past. I'm a big fan of the rear peep sight but I've also been considering scoping the rifle. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a way I could mount a scope to the rifle but also retain the peep sight (I would mount the scope using a quick detach mechanism, so that I could use irons instead when preferred). As far as I can tell, it's probably a non-starter as the Williams peep covers the rear scope mount holes, but I wanted to ask on her to see if anyone more knowledgeable had a good idea. I've also attached two pictures to show the rifle in it's current configuration.
