I bought my girlfriend a new Savage Axis chambered in .243. It is a synthetic/stainless model. The scope that came with it from Cabelas was garbage so we decided to upgrade to a better scope and also one that is silver in color to match the stainless barrel. When the new scope arrived, I wanted to try it on the rifle and soon discovered that the rings were too far apart to fit on the scope tube. The Axis uses a 2 piece weaver base and therefore there is no adjustment to move the rings back and forth. I noticed Cabelas sells extension rings which allows you to move one of the rings 3/4" to the front or rear, but I need to move mine about 1". Extension rings are $30 a set here in Canada and I didnt really wanna buy 2 sets (which would allow me to move 1.5" in total). Wondering if anybody knows if there is a 1 piece base available for the Axis which would allow me to move my existing rings where I need them? Any advice is much appreciated!!

Weaver's website shows a 1-piece base, and 2-piece extended bases.
Burris XT bases might work.

EGW makes a 1 piece you can get in silver. But I think they are special order. The weaver 402S are silver two piece extension bases two of them should give you enough. They are less than $5.00 apiece.
If you don't want a silver Weaver has a one piece matte #48347

Look at the bases. I'll bet you can simply turn one or both around and get the rings closer together.

Just went through this myself. I used the Weaver one piece (48347) to get enough "options" but still used an extension ring facing back on the rear mount to get the scope as far back as I wanted it. I tend to like my scopes about 11" from the rear of the stock.
