scope mounts H&R 45/70 single shoot

I have a H&R handi rifle . I would like to mount a simmions scope,but the hammer hit,s the the scope. I have a weaver scope base,I wonder if a Iron Sighter mount would give me better to cock the hammer?? It is a 45/70 and eye relief is a issure.Could use some advice. TKS. David
