I am putting a scope on my Crosman break barrel air rifle. It has a 3/8 inch grooved receiver. The problem is the mounts won't stay put. The rifle has enough recoil to slide the scope back. I hesitate to put too much torque on the little clamp screw. What have you used to keep this kind of mounts in place?

More tighter.
And a scope stop block.

Or a one-piece base with more clamping area.

I also degrease the grooves and apply blue Lock-Tight under the clamps.
Let it cure out over-night before shooting it.

Also, some air rifles have a fairly large hole in the receiver for a steel stud that fits in the bottom of the air-rifle scope ring.

And part of the problem is, it may likely have 11mm European spec grooves as used on most spring-cocker air rifles, and not 3/8" Weaver spec grooves as used on .22 RF rifles.

Yes, I know 3/8" and 11mm are the same thing, but not in every case of imported air rifle scope mount grooves and American .22 RF rings!

I first tried it with the rings that came with the rifle.
They did not fit the grove right and I had to junk them.
The second pair of rings I got fit the groove well.
I will try the Loctite first.

Thanks all for your ideas.
