Scope question

Rarely see more than a clicks worth as you describe (also not discounting it being possible).

@Varminterror that is what I was meaning by the above; that what was being described by the OP would be an anomaly I’ve yet to witness as described but the pattern in question often shows up when zeroing a scope improperly mounted.

Because many people hear the term parallax but don’t really understand it (and that is not what was diagramed) I figured for posterity’s sake future readers might understand the most likely cause of diagonal movement (not zoom related or course).

@cdb1, if it soothes your mind while sipping chamomile by all means, enlarge and print away. :D

This is the diagram I use in rifle classes to reflect shifts in POA when holding over or dialing using a canted reticle such the vertical stadia isn't parallel to the vertical plane of bullet travel (which SHOULD be the centerline of the bore).

anyone have any useful input, or suggestions. I had thought about zeroing it on 6x at 100yds and leave it there. The rifle is a 5.56 AR-15 intended for home defense (the intended purpose of 2x) and close range hunting.

In the midst of my “artistic interpretation”- don’t judge me - I neglected this part of the post. Please note I concur with others who wrote that the specific sample is defective and an attempt to contact the retail outlet or manufacturer would be a good first step. Then I’d consider something like a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot for those stated purposes.

A red dot is quicker, the Bushnell is a good performance to dollar value, and the standard height model plus a cheap riser will only set you back about $50 on Amazon. I paid $43 for mine, didn’t need a riser, but they’re inexpensive and allow absolute or lower 1/3 co-witness depending on the height you choose. A simple google search for UTG Picatinny Riser took me to Amazon where these were listed together. $53.48 if you must be super budget conscious, otherwise a Sig Romeo for ~ $120 would be a good step up.
