I am putting together a Ruger American Ranch Rifle intended for 100 yards and in in 350 Legend. I'd like to keep the whole package compact and I don't need more than 4X or 6X magnification. In fact, a fixed 4X scope would do. Would like to keep the price to $100 or so, but if this isn't doable for a decent scope I could maybe go as high as $150. Any suggestions?

For intended use, nothing fancier than a Simmons 8 Point 4x32 1" tube is needed. 8 .5 " long, less than 9oz. $50.
I've never had an 8 point hold together for any length of time. But I've also never had a fixed powers just the 3-9s.
If they hold up the glass on those was always pretty good for the cost.

I had a 1.5-5x32 Bushnell ultrahd on my .300blk ranch and liked it, but I think most of the small x20-32mm scope would work well.

I actually still have a 1-4x20 center point that Im gonna use on my .350 ar, when ever I out it back together.

I've had an 8 Point 4x32 on a Springer air rifle for five years. Has held up brilliantly despite the brutal springer action. Had it on a Handi Rifle in 454 Casull for several years before that. Have had Simmons 4x32 scopes on shotguns and a 20 ga slug gun without issue. Have never had a variable magnification Simmons though. The glass is perfectly good at 4x.

I actually really like the older ones, I've got a few including some of the highend ones. Ive got one of the newer ones that refuses to die, even tho it's mostly fallen apart at this point.

Interesting to see the Simmons mentioned. I was looking at this https://www.opticsplanet.com/bush-rs-bnr-710432.html
Looks like a pretty generic 4x, probably work just peachy lol. Again no direct experience with that scope.

The Bushnell comes with a lifetime warranty. If the modest recoil of a 350 blows one up, I could always switch it to a rimfire after they replace it.

If you go Nikon 3X it’s a good thing your rifle has a one piece picatinny base. That scope is so stubby it can be very difficult to impossible to mount if the rifle doesn’t have a one piece picatinny base.
