If you had wanted to spend only 400-500 dollars max on a scope for the LTR (a 20 inch heavy barrel 308) to be used for 300 target and multi-range hunting applications what would you choose? I have never owned an adjustable obj scope and was wondering if you set the parallax at 150 on the objective would it function the same as a factory set scope w/o the AO? I am hooked on the idea of the 4.5-14 leupold without the AO or the 4.5-14 Burris but, the ao turns me off a little as I figure it would be hard to adjust while trying to draw down on a deer in the woods. Oh, the gun is short so Overall length needs to be short so as not disturbe the portobility of the rig.

Thanks
Chris

BsChoy;

Myself, I'd never have an A/O scope on a big game hunting gun. I have several A/O scopes for varminting & thoroughly enjoy them, in their place.

Now I'm sure that there's folks out there that do use A/O on hunting rigs & do so sucessfully. But I don't & won't. Too many opportunities for things to go wrong IMHO. I'm not a stand hunter, I don't have my ranges all picked out, and I'm not going to lose a shot because I've got to spend time fussing with a scope adjustment.

Buy real good glass, it makes a difference.
