Info I found on the EXT Reticle from another forum. Hope it is ok to post

Cabela’s new EXT Reticle was recently introduced on their Pine Ridge and Alpha Series scopes. Unlike Cabela’s Alaskan Guide Rangefinder, it is intended to be sighted in at 100 yards. You can also tune the EXT Reticle to your rifles trajectory by lowering magnification if your rifle doesn’t shoot as flat as the EXT Reticle’s ballistic compensation or increasing magnification if your rifle does shoot a flatter trajectory (up to 20%). On their Alpha Series 3-12x scope, the EXT Reticle is referenced to 10x for rifles with .30-06 or similar performance. The directions do not provide any MOA values

The poster set the scope up in a vise, viewed a point target at about 100 yards to eliminate parallax, and used the elevation turret to click off the distance between BDC marks.

The ballistic drop for each BDC reference at 10x measured as follows; 200 yard-tic, 3”/1.5 MOA; 300, 11.3”/3.75; 400, 25”/6.25; and 500 yard, 46”/9.25 MOA. Again, increasing magnification above 10x reduces these values proportionally and reducing the power setting increases these values proportionally.

Horizontal BDC crosshairs are 3 MOA wide at 10x except for the wider 300 yard reference which is 8 MOA. This equates to 24 inches wide, 12 inches either side of the crosshair at 300 yards at 10x.

For a specific .308 with the 3-12x scope, the ballistic match was right on at all ranges with the magnification set at 9x. This was verified this with shots at 100 and 300 yards. Based on factory data, 9x was also a good power setting for.30-06 ammo with 150 gr boat-tails.

.270 Win with 150 gr Berger VLD bullets had a good ballistic match with the power set at 10.8x. This scope provides an affordable and effective BDC solution.

I used to live near a cabelas and would often go back into their "bargain cave" scratch/dent/returns for sale area. It was usually chock full of cabelas branded scopes. There may be valid economic and retail reasons that have nothing to do with scope quality for that, but it always made me nervous. That and that you just cannot get an answer as to who is making their scopes for them this week raises flags. You would think that if they had nikon or zeiss or somebody making for them that word would leak. Keeping such a tight lid on it makes me think it's probably somebody like tasco or utg making to a slightly higher price point. But again, I can't back that up.

But I always like the idea of a steal of a deal. Let us know how it looks and where it was made when it arrives.

I sell scopes for Cabela's. The Euro Instinct is made by Meopta, it is stamped on the scope. Cabela's wants the customer to know it is a Meopta. They are good scopes. The makers of the other Cabela's scopes are a closely held secret, no one at the store level knows who makes them. In the opinion of most, myself included Cabela's brand scopes are a POS except for the Euro Instinct.

Thanks for the info, looks to be on backorder now, wont arrive until feb......

I had checked the reviews, and also was aware that where the scope is built was a closely guarded secret - I researched it and the best I can tell is they are made in China.

In any case, I plan to put it on a .22 target rifle. I would hope it will hold up to that level of recoil while punching paper and if not, I will return it.

I have Nikon scopes on my larger caliber rifles. This was a 'it looks like a good price' scope so I thought might be ok for a .22.
