Id guess because they arnt popular to suppress, and most muzzle devices on cartridges that small in rifles are for appearance.I was going to suggest a CZ457, they have excellent sights, but they don't make them in 22Mag with a threaded bbl. I don't understand why not?
So thats been a recurring theme when some one brings up the .22 mags. Ive never owned one, and only used friends guns, so havent gotten to really do much accuracy testing.I have tried to like my .22 mags in the past but for what ever reason they simply lacked the accuracy I wanted
good point, I hadnt thought of that. Its pretty much all cci here.I suppose even with my .22 LR’s it’s a matter of testing a number of different manufacturers and types of ammo to find what works best, not completely unlike working up a load for the Hornet, trying different bullets, powders and such. While there may be an abundance of choices on a shelf for .22 LR, often very few for .22 mag, lots of places I go it’s Winchester or CCI, sometimes just one or the other, there are others out there though.
It wouldn't be mine, there's a REASON why ruger bought them all back!!10/22 mag would be my choice, if you can find one.
Wish i had one shoot that well. The few times ive shot .22mags for groups they were 2-3" at 100ydsMy 597M is the rifle I hunt with most. It will touch holes at 50 yds with my pet ammo. (CCI 40 gr TMJ)
The Ruger American Rimfire has your configuration, but the sights are only so-so, IMO.
Here's mine just after I bought it, I was leaning over my 4 wheeler,Wish i had one shoot that well. The few times ive shot .22mags for groups they were 2-3" at 100yds
Perhaps ill get a .22mag barrel for my 457 and see what i can get out of that gun.
