Scored an 1849 Pocket Revolver

I have just got to share this with people who can appreciate it since my wife is not in the least interested!

Came across this Uberti 1849 Pocket Revolver over the weekend from an estate sale. It is unfired and in beautiful condition. I have been wanting one for a long time and figured it would never happen.

That is a nice looking .31 caliber 1849. I think the '49s are cute as punch. Closest I ever came to cursing at a shooting buddy was when I walked into his office and he had one with that length barrel in a shadow box. It was made by some out fit called COlt in 1858 or 59 and some customer of his had brought it into his office in an old sock and asked him if he wanted it. He said thank you and had a local artist make up the shadow box.

He had no interest in selling it or shooting it (though to be honest it looked in better shape than my PR brass frame) which made it worse for me.

For whatever reason little old ladies that did business with the guy would bring in things from dead hubbie's sock drawers to this guy, and it only got "worse" after the '48 went up on the wall.

My daughter thinks they are cool as well and likes how they fit her ten year old hands. SHe would really like that color case hardened steel frame and four inch barrel...... I'll tell ya where you can send it to her...

Very nice "49"..just curious as to who made the gun,the grips are really nice wood.
Here in Canada the 4 inch barrel would make a modern made Pocket Pistol "prohibited" meaning most people up here can't have one. I had to settle for a Baby Dragoon .31 Cal. with a 5 inch barrel which is almost the same thing except most of the originals didn't have a loading lever.

Nice lookin shooters!..Is the Navy Uberti? Also, maybe I just need a few more cups of mud to wake up and see more clearly, or maybe its just the angle, but the wedge on that baby seems a little off center?

Skinny, it's an Uberti. And the proof code is BN which puts its' manufacture date about year 2000.

Dimension wise they are the perfect frame for the 36 caliber, but even so they still fill the hand comfortably. Of course, concerning ballistics you don't have much 'range' to work with in that small chamber.

The Navy in my picture is a Colt..a Robert E. Lee commemorative made in 1971 and it is a great shooter not a safe queen.
The wedge on my Baby Dragoon is off centre and if I pound it in too much the cylinder binds on the forcing cone..so I run it with a fairly loose wedge.
