I haven't seen powder on the shelves of my LGS in quite some time. I don't tend to buy in bulk because I don't have a massive reloading set up. I tend to do one round at a time for 12 gauge, 9mm and soon to start with 5.56.

As I'm getting ready for work, my wife asks if I can use this IMR stuff she found on an "online yard sale". Immediately, I say sure.

Then I ask, how much and for how much? Turns out, it's a sealed one pound can of IMR 4064 for $10. Heck yeah.

I've been saving my empty 5.56 brass for awhile now, since I haven't found hardly any rifle powder on the shelves. I should be in good shape, although I'm now kicking myself for passing up the 1000 small rifle primers I saw a few weeks ago.

Anybody made any good scores lately?

I think the best deal I got in all my years of reloading was an RCBS 5-10 in excellent shape. I picked it up at a yard sale for $5. I almost felt guilty though, cause the lady was selling off her deceased husbands stuff and had no idea what the scale was actually worth.

Other than that, I'm kind of OCD about buying powder or primers from yard sales, you just never know if it was stored properly, or if in fact it contains the actual powder or primers on the label. I have little trouble buying other reloading related items though, bullets, brass, dies, and what not, those I can eye ball and get a good idea if they're in usable condition.

Just my .02 worth.

Im surprised to hear of the difficulty locating rifle powder. Its all over the place around here, but pistol powder seems to be rarer than even .22lr, especially in any bulk.

Same here. Good luck finding anything unless you go to somewhere like Cabelas where the price is about 50% higher than it should be....

A few weeks ago one of my LGS had a clearance sale on all reloading supplies. I got 3 lb of IMR4064 for $17 ea. (yeah, they were overpriced to begin with.) Also few thousand primers.

Just placed my order for 15k rem spp and 15k winchester spp today. I was down to my last case. Pistol powder is still hard to find, but I have enough for a third world country's army.
