And how tight does the UltiMAK lock up into the sight block?

It tightens down with u-clamps and set screws onto the barrel. Very, very tight.

It doesn't actually lock onto the sight block at all. As they said, it is clamped onto the barrel. Absolutely, positively rock solid. Tighten it down and loctite the screws, and that puppy is going nowhere.

Seconded. I've been hoping for an ultimak for my S-308 only a little little less than the sights that Tech-sights has been promising.

And these u-clamps never loosen up after repeated firing? These must be similar to the scout mounts that CMP sells for the M1. They have u-clamps that attach to the barrel. I guess it's OK, its not like like these weapons are going into combat... My opinion is still that a AKM optic belongs on the side rail where it was designed to go.

The Ultimak is quality, real world useful stuff, not like most of the other aftermarket attachments you see.
