It doesn't actually lock onto the sight block at all. As they said, it is clamped onto the barrel. Absolutely, positively rock solid. Tighten it down and loctite the screws, and that puppy is going nowhere.

And these u-clamps never loosen up after repeated firing? These must be similar to the scout mounts that CMP sells for the M1. They have u-clamps that attach to the barrel. I guess it's OK, its not like like these weapons are going into combat... My opinion is still that a AKM optic belongs on the side rail where it was designed to go.
