Scratched 223 Brass

I had resized about 100 223 pieces of brass when I noticed scratches on the body of the brass. I can feel them with my fingernail but they don't appear too deep. I cleaned my die, but it still scratches the brass. Can I still load the brass and should I send the die to RCBS to be polished?

You will be fine. You can polish it yourself. It might just be a burr, that you can lightly polish out. I had a 308 sizer that was scratching, used a little FLITZ on a q-tip. Took care of it.

Brass specs galled to the die due to lack of proper sizing lube.

You can clean the die with copper solvent.
It will eat the brass without harming the steel die.

Or you can polish it out with a slotted dowel rod in a drill with a flap of 320 - 400 grit black Emory paper.

Thanks guys, I'll get to it this AM.
One question, if the cause of the scratches is lack of lube can anyone tell me the proper way to use the Hornady spray lube. I have put to much lube on and dented the shoulder on the brass. Now I just give the brass a light spray on one side, rotate the tray 180 deg. and lightly spray the other side. Can I do better?

If it is a lube issue I'd switch to Imperial Sizing Wax. A little dab on your fingers roll the case around and you are ready to go. Best stuff I have ever used and does not slow me down all that much.

You are doing exactly what I do using the same size fluid I do. Be sure to shake the heck out of your lube can to mix her well each time you pick it up.

I probably use a bit more lube than you. Make sure the paper you are rolling your shells on is free of dirt each time you lay a fresh batch of shells down. Just shake it off or better, replace it with new paper, I use news paper but paper towels works great, too.

The scratches you speak of, if you take a finger nail and run it over it does it barely catch on the scratch or does it really catch on the scratch?

My nail just barely catches.
I cleaned my sizing die per instructions yesterday, and lo and behold, no more scratches! I also sprayed my lube slightly heavyer and that helped also, no dents, and the sizing required less effort.
I want to thank everyone for your help, it is amazing what you can learn by just asking.
