Trying to figure that out....
OK, I will admit to being new to com-bloc type weapons.... just haven't sen a lot in my area (yet).

What is meant by a screw build AK? is it a difference in the receiver or just using screws instead of rivets to hold parts in place?

Screw builds save you from having to press the barrel out and into the front trunnion, or having to set rivets. Drills and taps are generally cheaper than presses and rivet tools too.

A well done screw build should be perfectly strong and safe, but it's not the way the factories build them.

Thanks... I am looking at getting a new receiver and a parts kit, and putting it all together. Just wanted to see if I needed anything other than a vise and power drill.

A grinder of some sort is handy for removing the old rivet heads so that you can get the stubs of the old receiver off the trunnions in your kit.

Please use a depth restricter (whatever they're called) so you don't drill a hole in your barrel. This happens very often.

You'd probably be better off finding an AK build party in your area or someone with the tooling that'd let you use it (and do a rivet build).

Thanks for all your help. I do have a well set-up shop at work, but I wanted something to do in my small basement shop... looks like I will need to do it there.... probably use the mill to remove the rivet heads... Make them nice and flat.
