I have a very accurate AR with a Rainier Arms Ultramatch SDM-R barrel. I'm looking to secure an Trifecta RS FS/mount. I've previously used a Wilson AccuTac FS hand tight because it is self-tightening (helical design).

Should I go rather light 10 lb-ft? 15 lb-ft? and Red Loctite it? I think spec is 20-40 lb-ft. I'd like to get a tine down to minimise dust kickup but it is not that critical because if I'm setting up prone I probably have time to get the QD suppressor on.

Evening, Mike...

I would not use red Loctite; a bit of blue Loctite on a couple of threads and light to medium torque should work just fine and not affect your barrel at all.

Hanging a bit of weight on the end might, however.

What's the OD on the barrel?

Hello Mr. O, the 20" rifle-gas barrel is fluted bull out to the gas block and about 0.730 or 0.740 from the gas block to the muzzle. The mount is a couple oz heavier than the Wilson FS. The SilencerCo Specwar 556 is shorter and significantly lighter than the AAC Cyclone can I have been using (accurately).

If I remember correctly the gun was slightly more accurate with the Cyclone and the POA shift was about 5 MOA vertical only.
