Nixdorf, you may be surprised by the 4451. I’m doing final load testing now on a Creedmoor and 4451 is one of the finalists. I bought some when I couldn’t find any 4350. Now I’ve got both and groups are very similar.

In the lower power class I think the Sightron S-Tac lineup is a remarkable value in the under $500 space, I have at least two of them, maybe three.
When the S-Tac scopes around/dropped more than half price all around the net a buddy and I bought bought one. We are both very happy with them. Midway dropped them to less than they are right now when we got ours, but the price now is still a bargain. When I was ordering mine my buddy asked about them and I talked him into ordering one. He is very impressed with the overall clarity, and also the bright images around dusk.

Optics Planet has them on their Killer Deal sale right now that I think ends tonight, 3/4/18, $399.

Midway has that one (4-20-50 MOA2) for $375 right now, my buddy paid $350 shipped when we bought them from Midway. I bought the 3-16-42. MOA3 for $300. But like I said, they went off "sale" and were marked up some, but still way way below what they had been.

Midway shows out of stock :(

I run the 3-16x42 on my Ruger takedown; I can fit the lower, upper, .223 and 300BLK barrels, scope on a single point QD mount, 4 P-mags and a handgun all in the rifle's carry case. Of course it weighs a fair amount :)

I finally got to the range, but only for a short time due to an approaching thunderstorm. I am impressed so far, but haven't had a chance to shoot at longer ranges yet.

I was able to break in the barrel according to Bergara's process (shoot five rounds and clean the barrel after each shot, shoot 10 and clean). I boresighted the scope before hitting the range, then set the target up at 25 yards. With a few windage and elevation changes, all shots were on target and most were in the same hole.

A few observations:

1) I can't say enough about the Bergara's trigger and ergonomics. The trigger is crisp and catches you by surprise. The scope's controls will take a little getting used to, but that's the shooter (not the scope).

2) The Talley integral medium rings are great, but I didn't properly check action clearances before hitting the range. That's my fault. I mounted the scope with magnification set to 24x. With how I have the scope mounted at the moment, you can't work the bolt when the scope is set to low magnification (6x to 8x). The bolt hits a raised portion of the magnification ring at low settings, but twisting the ring to high magnification creates clearance for the bolt to move. I hope I can correct this without screwing up eye relief. If not, I'll have to find new rings.

3) I bought an inexpensive CVLIFE bi-pod off Amazon. I was on the fence of whether to get a bi-pod or keep shooting off bags, so I spent $19 on the CVLIFE bi-pod instead of $80 for a Harris. I like the CVLIFE bi-pod so far, but I'm much more comfortable shooting from bags. I will likely put the bi-pod one of my other rifles and keep shooting at range from bags.

Last update: I really like this rifle and scope. Attached 3 shot group is from today at 100 yards with Hornady ELD Match 140 grains over 41.0 grains of IMR 4451.

Thanks again for all your help.

WelI just joined and found this thread I have the Bergara B14 BMP (pictured left) it's a tack driver no complaints what so ever. If you don't like the tactical look they make an equally good rifle in the B14 HMR. It is topped with a Sightron 8-32X56 (its a very big scope), but well worth it. I'm shooting 1000 yds so I needed it. I purchased it from Optics Planet at 42% off. I agree with Skylerbone you should definitely spend the same or more in some cases on the optic, but always get the best rifle you can first without having to modify it along the way. Optics Planet has great deals on optics all the time I'd start there for optics if nothing else you can do a ton of research on the optics, read reviews etc. Even get your ideas then youtube reviews as well. Good luck and good shooting.
