Hello,

I recently inherited a Model 12 16 ga.

It appears to have a 26 inch barrel and modified choke.

It has field grade ? stocks, no checkering.

I am told it is a factory vent rib with round posts and donut bases.

The blueing is near perfect, and only the butt stock has a couple nicks from being in a gun cabinet.

the serial # is 1686XXX, told dating 1958.

I know my father bought this in the early 60's and he never shot it, although I am sure it has been shot a little.

I would greatly appreciate any information you can give me, and of course I am interested in its potential value.

Thank you very much.
Michael

Micheal, I would encourage you to go to www.gunbroker.com and register as a user. Once you have done that, you can do an advanced search to see what previous similar guns have sold for. Dont pay attention to the ones without bids, or the ones that did not meet the reserve price. All those will tell you is what it is NOT worth. I would look at the ones where the item successfully sold, and look for ones with pictures that are similar condition wise to yours. Condition and details make all the difference. Look at all things, ie, barrel length, is there a vent rib on the barrel etc... This should give you a general range of what the gun is worth. I have found that internet auctions tend to have slightly higher prices realized than local sales, which is one reason why I like to sell on the internet:eek:
