Seems al Jezeerah thinks NRA is a boogie man

If "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" opened a burger joint, would you eat there?

Didn't think so. That is the same reason I won't watch Al Jazeera. I know what the parent organization stands for and won't support it

The parent group is the House of Thani, the ruling family of Qatar. They financed AJ after the Saudi government leaned on the BBC's Arabic language broadcasts and the BBC shut down it's operations. This left a void in the Arabic speaking world. The BBC's Arabic language TV and radio broadcasts were the only ones that reached most of the middle east and shutting them down was a blow to free speech. Or at least any speech that wasn't the official line of one or another government in the Mid East.

AJ has a pan Arabist lean. It's reporters have been imprisoned in Egypt and Saudi Arabia and a few other places. A few have been killed by Al Queda or Isis.

I can't say i support the House of Thani, that ruling tribe in Qatar. I also know little about them. They are the ruling elite of that country and exploit folks, I'm pretty clear on that.

I also don't support Rupert Murdoch or Ted Turner. I wouldn't eat at their burger joints either, if I can avoid it. Or the conglomerates behind NBC, CBS, MSNBC, etc. some of 'em I don't know who they are or what they do. They exploit folks here. I'm very clear on that. They justify that with every news cycle.

But I'm not afraid of them either. The money behind the media slant it the way they want to and I see that and have to be enough of an adult to see through it.

I appreciate some of you looking out for my impressionable mind but mostly I can look after that on my own.

That someone in the Middle East pulls together a news network along U.S. lines and is a rival to the BBC and is not the official mouthpiece for a government I think is a good thing for the world. I'd like to see more like that in different parts of the globe. A good news network out of Africa showing me some true things instead of the usual lies and drivel. It would mean some one there had the money and reliable electricity to do it.

Do we have to cover the obvious here? No network that blatantly calls for jihad has a chance of gaining viewers in this country. Propaganda is about mixing lies in with truth. The right formula makes all the difference. That network has far too much connection to terrorist groups to be anything but part of the problem. I don't care how many times they report on how the wonderful Cubans are helping the Ebola situation. Anyone who thinks Cuba does one thing that isn't geared towards propaganda has been a victim of propaganda.
