Sell me on the Glock 21

That was the problem with mine. Previous owner installed new extractor and failed to set the tension!

I have owned all 3 and still own a couple of 1911's. I give you the less long version of my story:
1. The P220 was the first 45 acp I owned. It had a horrible trigger - 15+#'s in DA (ran out of weights on the scale to specify) and 8#'s SA :barf: Sent it back the the factory and it came back mushy & vague :barf: :barf: I ended up selling it less than 6 mos after buying it!
2. While the SIG was back to the factory, I bought a G21c that I thought I liked until it kb! in my hands :what: (not fun!)
3. I evolved towards the 1911. It is everything I thought it would be and then some...I won't be surprised if I end up w/ a few more before it's all said and done :D

Years back I had a Glock 30 and liked it a lot. It replaced a Smith & Wesson 457 that just could not hit the broad side of a barn with, for some reason. Anyway, I went for the 30 because it felt very well balanced in the hand. The 21 felt a tad front heavy to me. The 30 will conceal easier if that's a concern.

If I was doing it over again I'd give the XD .45's an awful lot of consideration. I got to tinker with the 5" and 4" models at a local gun shop and they fit my hand very nicely and seemed well balanced. I might actually consider one of these over a Glock simply over the XD's grip safety.

I own 3-1911's. a G21, G30 and an XD45. All are extreamly reliable. I had problems with the Sig and after 3 trips back to the factory, sold it.

The G21 is the softest shooter of all of mine. 8000 rounds without a hiccup. I did have a single problem with the XD but it was me limp wristing not the gun.

I would recommend any that you feel comforatable with. By all means, try before you buy. As a word of caution though, if you rent a gun to try, don't shoot for accuracy as most rentals are somewhat abused and not very accurate. Just shoot for feel. See what fits you the best.

I have always been interested in the Model 21. But when i purchased my only .45, i chose to go with a 1911. the glock was too big for my small hands. i liked the fact that the glock held more than 7 rounds but when you go to the firing range, you will burn right through that expensive ammo. the 1911 fit perfect in my little rat hands, it is heavy and reliable, has an exterior hammer, grip safety and slide safety. anyways, thats my two cents.

I dont have a G21, but I have a G29 (10mm compact - G30 is the .45 twin), a G19 (9mm) and twin G23 (40s&w), as well as several 1911's along they way and an XD40. Hands down the glock is my favorite choice. The 21 is pretty large (not too different than the 1911), but the G30 (doublestack)or G36 (singlestack) are both smaller versions if you are looking to conceal carry. I chose the G29 over the G20 (twin to the G30 / G21) because the G20 was a little too big for conceal carry in south FL. Ive shot both the G21 and G30 and both are par the course for a glock - lower recoil, light weight, lots of ammo!

Good luck to you, but I'd vote for the glock!
