Whipping someone with a GLOCK is obviously superior!
The grip angle raises the front sight so high that it's already like holding a club. The polymer grip reduces shock and vibration, so you can deliver more blows, faster. And the hard tennifer finish on the business end would deliver superior skull-crushing ability with no worries about corrosion from the ensuing blood and tears.
I like Glocks, but not the large frame ones. The grips and slides are too wide. Although the 1911 is heavy (in a steel frame version), it makes up for it by being very slender and flat. Part of the problem, IMO, with the G21 is that it was originally made for 10mm Auto, a longer and more powerful cartridge than the .45. It needs the wide grip and slide for the Ten, but a dedicated .45 model could be a lot slimmer.
I think you are making the right choice in keeping the 1911 and getting the glock. I edc a 1911 but shoot a glock (35) for ipsc and find its just fun to have both. I learned long ago to not sell a gun to get another gun just save my pennies for a couple more days and buy what I want. I have noticed that having both a 1911 and glock alows me to argue both with and against pretty much every auto pistol shooter in the world. This is better.... that is better... I say have both and you can't go wrong.
I'm also on the verge of trading in my Kimber Pro Carry for a Glock 23. I've had more than a few problems with the Pro Carry and it's become a question of reliability. I love the trigger, but want something that's dead reliable. After reviewing THR and Concealedcarry.com I've seen very positive feedback for the G23 and am leaning in that direction.

Yeah but with a 1911 you can easily switch out the grips if they crack on the head of the scumbag you are whippin.
Just a warning, I have a G23 and it works great without a light attached. When I attach my Streamlight TLR-1 to it, it becomes a jam-o-matic. I put the light on my G19 and all is good.
The light thing only applies to the g23 and g22. I don't put lights on my pistols anyway.
Definately keep your 1911 if it works 100%, reliable 1911's are getting extremely rare lately.
I have both, and the G21 fits me better. The 1911 deosn't work well for me with a modern combat grip. The safety eats into my hand. If 1911's had no safety they'd be perfect. But I don't want to use old school weaver type grips anymore.
Apparently the pro shooters put their thumb over the safety or stick their thumbs way out. Neither of these techniques work for me.
I just finished fixing my Kimber, it's 100% now. But I'd still trade it for a Glock 21, straight up, or a Glock 35 with a couple extr mags.
Several years ago I caught a bad case of Glockitis and bought a Glock 21 to supplement my 1911's as a house and PD pistol. When I regained my senses the piece of plastic crap had gone and I bought another 1911 to replace it.
I did just that many years ago. Had a Colt Officers in SS. Could never find a way to comfortably carry it. Glock had just come out with the 26, so I traded one for the other. I really like that 26, and still have it. But I wish I'd just saved the dough & bought it, instead of losing the Colt. Still consider it one of my dumber moves over the years.
