As I posted in another thread, I had the opportunity to spend some time with a Glock 19 this past weekend and absolutely loved it. I probably shot it better than any other centerfire pistol I've ever fired. Not sure why, it just felt right in my hand and fired like a dream. At the present time, if I want to be the proud owner of one of these pistols I'm going to have to let one that's currently in my stable go. I have a Ruger SR9c that has had zero malfunctions through 2000 rounds but I've never been terribly accurate with it. I've just never been able to get used to the trigger. Here's my question, would you sell an SR9c to buy a Glock 19? Curious for opinions. Thanks.

If you're not more accurate with the G19, you're back to square. But, as you've stated, you had success with it. Then, go for it! It's an ugly damn pistol, but if you can hit with it, all the better.

If you enjoy the Glock better, then why not? If you later decide you want another SR9c, then buy one when funds are available. They're not rare, or going up in price.

You've answered your own question.

YES i we would do it if it was me.As someone already pointed out,its damn ugly, but damn reliable, and a very good shooter as well.

I kind of see the SR9 as a crude copy of the Glock. So sell the Ruger and buy the G19. Now for all you Ruger diehards I am not anti Ruger. In fact I just bought a LCP and a MKiii inthe past 18 months. For this paticular purchase I would choose the G19 but that is my opinion.

Both are great guns. I gave my SR9c to my son, bought a G19, and a G26. I miss the SR9c only because it was a very good, accurate, reliable gun. I have put it on top of my want list. Will probably buy another one soon! Lesson learned. Do not sell/trade. Just buy another gun to add to the collection!

The SR9c works well for me and I'm more accurate with it than the Glock. But as stated, you've answered your own question. Get what works best for you.

Same with me. I used to also have a SR9c but gave it up for the G19 because of the same reason.

You should go with what works best for you. I was just the opposite when looking for a compact 9mm. I tried a lot of different guns, including the Glock 19, and found that I liked the Ruger SR9c the best out of all of them. The grip fit me very well, the sights were very quick to acquire, and the overall design felt like it was very well thought out. Out all the different choices it was what worked best for me.

Thanks for all the input so far. Some very good points made. I would love to keep the Ruger and buy the 19 but lets just say the "firearm fairy" has made quite a few stops at my house in the last year. My wife is a great sport and very supportive and since I'd like to keep her that way I've decided that for a while any new guns in the stable have to replace old ones.

The G19 fit me and shot very well. The SR9c I've owned about 9 months and have put around 1500 rounds through it with ZERO malfunctions. I shoot OK with it but nothing spectacular. For some reason it just has never felt right in my hand. No criticism of the gun. I just happen to like and shoot the Glock better. I've decided to sell it and put it up on a popular gun auction site this morning. We'll see if I get any nibbles.

Why would you go to a "popular gun auction site" and pay a fee rather than simply offering it up to us here in the Trading Post? Just wondering. :scrutiny:

You should expect the same performance out of the Glock. So you shouldn't worry about trading a gun you know works for a gun that may or may not.

Would I? No. I have an SR9c and love the way it fits my hand where Glocks really don't. If you are the opposite, then you should definitely sell the Ruger.
