Any thoughts on the brands in the title? Graf & Sons have them $100 for 5000, as well free shipping over $100.

I never had a problem when i used magtec primers, but have no experience with S&B other than factory loads.

During the primer shortage, I bought some Magtech SP primers (nickel plated) and found them to seat much easier than Winchester SP primers. For once fired brass with tight primer pockets, this was OK; but if you have larger primer pockets, this may become an issue.

As to performance, they were comparable to Winchester primers in powder charges required and accuracy of shot groups.

Powder valley has Tula primers even cheaper at $20/1000 for Small pistol
$20/1000 and $100/5000 are the sane exact prices.

Sellier & Bellot and Magtech primers?
Never use S&B primers but I have used Magtech and they were fine.
BUT, being a creature of habit I use mostly CCI and Winchester primers considering they don't cost a whole lot more and because they work every time and I have loads worked up for both. If funds are very tight and you would not be able to shoot without buying the less expansive primers buy then and go have some fun...

I might actually think about buying some Magtech at that price. I didn't mind their .45acp ammo, Only problem is the 5000 primers are priced a penny under the $100 free shipping. ;)

I have used S&B primers in loads for a .38 Special revolver. This gun has a fairly strong spring but I get light strikes/failures to fire pretty often with S&B primers but not with any other brand. They seem to be very hard. I have not used them in anything other than this one revolver load.

Sellier & Bellot and Magtech primers.

Hallo eerybody,
I have used Magtech SP 1 1/2 for the last three years on my glock & ruger reloads without particular issues.
I tested recently S&B SP and, again,no problems on both guns.
I shoot light loads of Rex powder in 40SW & 357Mag.

Cheers.

I've never used either brand of primers but i have had problems with S&B ammo in several handguns. One is my PPK/S .32 auto which produces light strikes.

I have been using S&B primers without issues. However, some say they are a bit harder.

The Magtechs are about tied with WIN for primer cup hardness. Lightly sprung pistols will fire them reliably if they will fire WIN.

I've used about 15,000 of the MagTech Small Pistol primers in my match guns, along with my wife's match guns, and never had a misfire. They are a good quality primer and that's a great price. I've still got another 10,000 of them on the shelf and have no qualms about them.

I have no experience with S&B primers, other than in factory S&B ammunition. No failures with them in that use.

Hope this helps.

Fred
