That can depend on the state.
For example in NJ a BB pistol is no different than a Glock in the eyes of the law.
 
There should be no FFL required since an FFL is a federal license and there is no federal requirement for an FFL when airgun sales are involved.

I don't know how a state could require someone to have an FFL for airgun sales given that FFLs are regulated by federal law, not state law. A state could certainly impose their own restrictions, but I wouldn't think that they could require an FFL.
 
No. You don't need a Federal Firearms License to sell something that the federal government does not see as a firearm.

We only complicate the question by bringing up the really oddball places like NJ which have very harsh laws on all sorts of things.

The OP is in WA state.
 
There might be state age restrictions too. In Kentucky the age is 18 (according to the signs at the local Walmart here in Kentucky). There might be age restrictions in other states.

Go to Cabelas and other sites to see what states have airgun restrictions or permit requirements. NJ is one but there are others.

Well, I still don't understand, unless...maybe did you misunderstand Midwest's comment?!?

Maybe that's it. He was saying, if you go to Cabela's website (or Cheaper than Dirt, or other outdoors retailer) and look at things like airguns, there will be a little blurb at the bottom of the catalog entry that says, "These items cannot be shipped to the following states: HI, MA, MD, IL....." Or something like that.

Those retailers keep a pretty close eye on what states some of their products (airguns, paintball guns, knives, stun guns, ammo, blackpowder weapons, and things like that) are against the law.

You can use that info as a rough double-check to see if your state might have squirrely laws that restrict airguns.

He certainly meant no disrespect or insult!

Not on the Federal level. I was trying to help show that some states have restrictions on airguns even though no FFL is required on the Federal level. For instance NJ requires it's residents to go through an FFL in order to buy an airgun and a handgun permit is needed for EACH pistol type airguns.

APG40, please tell us what's going on. A little bit back, another of our members had some medical issues that caused him to post some very difficult-to-follow material here. He really needed some help, and he went and got it.

Maybe you can tell us what you're reading. Perhaps there is some issue with your device that has it displaying something different than what we are seeing?

Edit: I just found a thread you started in another forum, and the conversation there seems quite lucid. There, you and your respondents seem to understand each other just fine. Like this thread, that one was started this month. I cannot imagine, based on what I read over there, why you are having difficulty following this thread here. Let us know if we can help, please.

In a nutshell, user Midwest has it right. No FFL is required to engage in the business of selling air guns, unless within a state that considers air guns to be firearms. Your home state is not one of them.

Based on your age and location, you should have no problem buying or selling air guns.

I think I have her figured out. At the same time as she registered here, she registered on three other boards, and one of the members here in this thread is also a member on at least one of them. I think she's viewing more than one at the same time, and is mixing up the threads in her responses.

In Washington State you don't need an FFL to sell airguns. No background checks, no hassles. A local paintball shop is selling PCP airguns and 4500psi air supply tanks. If you're uneasy about all of the answers contact your local Sheriff's department and inquire there.

In light of that, may I make a suggestion that members of THR who happen to be also members of those other boards/forums.... Please give the answers from this thread ...to AG40 ...on those other forums..... Then we can be certain that AG40 got her answer correctly.
 
Wow a lot of patience shown to a person seemingly looking for a fight. Wish that much patience was shown to me lol and I don't look for fights
