Pre-Lock Smith Revolver Prices

For those that have visited gunshows or gunshops in the last month and observed or made purchases... what kind of prices are you seeing on pre-lock Smith & Wesson Revolvers in as-new (or let's say 98%+) condition... in particular the Model 10 (38spl), Model 17 (22Lr), Model 19 (357 Mag), Model 29 (44 mag), and Model 57 (41mag).?

Yes, I know I can look at the auction sites, I just want to hear what kinds of prices you all are seeing on them. My impression is there is quite a wide range of prices for all of these great revolvers. I'm not looking for extreme bargains from the old lady down the street; only real street prices. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Model 10s are still reasonable around here. Model 19s going for $300 and up. Model 29 dash something are $500 minimum and are usually wearing rubber. Model 17s are scarce; $375 - $425 for a good one.

Model 57? Forget about it. I haven't seen one in six months, and that one was priced $650.

I found a very nice 10-6, would rate 98% except for the electro pencil engraved rack or badge number on the trigger guard, for $300 at the Good man show in Dayton in August. I saw a Model 58 for $500, no box but it looked as new. A vendor had a NIB 10, don't know the dash number but it did not have the IL, did have the new style frame for around $350. I would have bought it but had spent my allowance on the 10-6. There were some nice 29's in presentation cases but I just recall them as being very pricey. At the OGCA show I picked up a like new Model 64, 3", no box or papers for $350.

I picked up a 10-6 in about 95% condition original grips for $275.00 here in Jacksonville Fl. Found it in a local paper it has a very light turn line. In all the shops around here they range from $300-$450.

In my neck of these old woods, I gave $350 for a pristine S&W 2" factory
nickel, square butt model 34-1 "Kit Gun"~! Heck, that is more than I
paid for any one of my 2nd series *(1947-1972) Colt Detective Specials,
or my 2nd series (1973) Colt Agent~!

I paid $700 for my 57 no dash about 3 years ago. I haven't seen one at a gunshow since then.

Ala Dan: That was an excellent price on the nickel Model 34. I may have seen the same gun a while back, but as I recall they were asking $500 for it in as-new condition (with original box).

Gun Tech: Those Model 57's seem to appear in bunches. That is more than I paid for my last one which was a year or so ago, but I understand paying the price. You look for a certain gun and never see a nice speciman or you see beat up ones at high prices.... finally you see one you like, but the price is more than you want to pay. You buy it and forget about the money and think about the prize gun you acquired.

I found a Model 19 (as new 1970's vintage) for about $400. My instincts tell me it was a very good price, so I put it on layaway until I can put together the mula. It will be my first Model 19 when I finally pay for it. I generally shoot a Colt Trooper Mark III 357 as my shooter.

I do the best I can with prices and then find out later that I paid $50 too much. Tis life I guess.

I just bought a 686-1, 6" %98 with original box and wood grips for $425. I had been searching for a good 6" to match my 686-1, 4" which I bought in 1991.
