Hey, I'm selling a P2000 w/ 12rd mags on gunbroker and just got this message, what do you think?

"I am in California. Just want to make 100% sure you will ship to CA. Thegun is CA legal, and I am a peace officer, which means I can have the12-round magazines even with our crazy gun laws here. I have an FFL thatwill accept this gun directly from you, so you don't have to ship from anFFL. This is 100% legal and might save you some money. Thanks!"

google is your friend

"# I am not an FFL but I want to ship a firearm to a California FFL. Do I have to obtain a Firearms Shipment Approval number before shipping a firearm to California?

No. The requirement to obtain a Firearms Shipment Approval number only applies to holders of valid FFLs."

I would get the contact info for the FFL in Calif and discuss with him over the phone. He will be well aware of all the Calif restrictions. If the shipment is "bad", he will get jacked up as well, so he does have a dog in the fight.

don't foget to get the FFL # now if you want to make sure it's a legit # .

Sounds possible. If he is NOT a LEO, the FFL cannot release it to him.

1. Call and talk to the FFL. Make sure he is OK with the shipment. Get his details.
2. Get the money first, before you ship.
3. Don't spread this metality that "It's just not worth shipping to California." We get too much of that already.

Just my $0.02.

Agree with last. Check it out. Make sure you get in writing that buyer accepts the risks and responsibility of complying with CA regs. Get your postal MO and ship.

Double check but I believe it is okay for you to ship to a confirmed FFL but you cannot use USPS. Have to use UPS and they require some form of overnight shipment only. Next Day Air Saver rate is cheapest.

Agree that an LEO who is willing to jump through all the hoops should not be punished for living in the People's Republic of California.

Related question. What happens if a guy pays, I ship to his FFL somewhere and he can't pass the FBI check. Not my problem? Can I tell him to negotiate something with his FFL or such like?

I am assuming my ad contains words that buyer is responsible for compliance with all state and federal transfer regs and inability to get approval is not a valid reason to return the firearm. Is this right?

Tom

Get his signed FFL. Ship the gun to the FFL, minus the magazines. Send the magazines directly to his personal address. I've done it in the part.
