I bought the 1927a-1 model and absolutely love it. I additional purchased an M1 front grip as well so that I can switch between the vertical and horizontal grips if I feel so inclined. Their MSRP on the 1927a-1 is $1420, but look around and you can do better then that. I bought mine brand new about 6 months ago with a 50 round drum, a 30 round stick, and a violin case for $1400 even. It is fun, fun, fun!

I did the same thing only got the 100 round drum. The gun is very heavy that way so I usually have it configured in the WWII format. I also save ammo that way. I haven't played with it for over a month because of the ammo price.

I had one of those some years back, it was 'Volunteer' brand IIRC made in Tenn. did fine, not all that accurate on paper but good on steel plate 'silohuette' targets.
sort of 'confidence inspiring', got in a nasty divirce ruckus and sold it.
my Marlin Camp .45 does good as a substitute with a 24 round drum.
