Urgent! We need to roll up our sleeves and hit this hard!

Senator George Allen, keeping his word to gun owners, has introduced
S 4057, the National Park Second Amendment Restoration and Personal
Protection Act of 2006, which will allow gun owners to carry in a
National Park as long as the state where the National Park is located
allows carry in parks!

Senator Allen needs to get the bill a Floor vote in the Senate and
get it off to the House for passage that must happen before the end
of the current session of Congress.

We need to do the following things ASAP to help Senator Allen MAKE
THIS HAPPEN!:

1. Contact Senator Majority Leader, Bill Frist, and ask him to fast
track S 4057!

Phone: 202-224-3344
Fax: 202-228-1264

Email web page:

http://frist.senate.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=AboutSenatorFrist.ContactForm

2. We need Senators from other states to support this bill
and quickly!

Here is the web page that lists all Senators and their contact
information:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

Please contact both of your Senators and Bill Frist.

Has anyone introduced a similiar bill in the House? Getting a bill passed by half of the Congress isn't going to accomplish much since both houses will be controlled by the Democrats come January.

very good question

I wondered that myself. I will say this though, the more people call and make this happen in the Senate will make a House Bill more possible. The Repubs in the Senate are considered to be more "moderate" than those in the House. So, if we get this through the Senate there is a good chance of getting the House involved.

I for one look at it as just a feel good shame. Don't forget the Republicans have had 6 years to show the gun owners they appreciate our support. In 6 years they have done? As close to nothing for us as you can do. Sure the AWB expired. Don't forget it expired right before the election. Then they passed the gun protection bill. Remember the two amendments added to the bill? I for one believe like GOA them amendments will come back and haunt us gun owners. That is why I for one im through voting for who I think is the lesser of the two evils. Both parties are the enemy of the gun owners!!!!

Don't forget the Republicans have had 6 years to show the gun owners they appreciate our support.

Now it is the Democrats turn to show us their love, I am sure we are going to feel it too, good and hard.

Bend over, here they come.

Isn't an enemy of the Constitution an enemy no matter what party he is in? Both parties in DC are anti gun. The ONLY DIFFFERENCE is the time frame they have to disarm us.

sad

we have a real opportunity to help ourselves, not Republicans nor Democrats, but OURSELVES. And even still, only a select few will actually make the calls. Oh well :(

GOA wants to stick this onto an unrelated must pass measure next week.

I've called three times to the various sentors on this.

Don't come whining to me when you busted for carrying on national park service lands.

Moderator Note

If you want to debate (D) vs (R), do it in another thread.

Let's save this one for specific discussion of S 4057 and efforts to see it pass.

Does anyone think this will be rammed through during the lamest of lame duck sessions by a Senator who won't even be there in January? Pull the other one. It's got bells on.

Why not?

I've heard Mr Allen wants to run for president and passing this would certainly get my vote.

:)

Besides what have you done to help pass this?

I live in an area with NPS lands and would like to be able to carry.

From an 11/23 Richmond Times-Dispatch article:

"In a twist, an Oct. 30 campaign letter by Jim Webb -- the Democrat who narrowly defeated Allen -- shows that he promised to introduce similar legislation.

"And I intend to get it to the floor for a vote," added Webb, who also noted his possession for many years of a concealed-carry permit and his regular shooting activity. A spokesman for the senator-elect said Wednesday that Webb had not studied the Allen bill."

A moderate Republican like... Khrushchev? Sheesh.

I will never understand how someone can believe in the second amendment but support socialists who believe that all rights, like life, liberty, and property, are mere privileges granted by the state that can be revoked at will.

ouch

I am staying out of the political stuff from now on. But i really think people need to lay the politics aside and treat this as an Action Item, something we should all act on. I believe all serious members here are for gun rights, this bill is about enhancing our gun rights. Let's all call and write.

I have not even read the "why i don't vote" thread", nor will I. But in mho, this thread should be larger and more inspiring. jmo.

Well, crum.

PMs and perhaps a ban in the works.

Meanwhile, those who actually want to discuss this as an action item may see the thread at this link.
