Does anybody know how old you have to be to buy a Serbu Super Shorty in Florida. I think its classified as an AOW which is good cause its a $5 stamp instead of a $200 stamp:cool:

The minimum age to buy an NFA weapon from an FFL is 21. If you manufacture one yourself, or purchase from a private individual, you only have to be 18. Manufacturing an AOW requires the $200 stamp, and I don't know if Serbu will sell you a barrel, mag tube, and folding foregrip, so that's probably out. Since they're made in FL, though, you may be able to find someone who's willing to sell theirs.

Ryan, I think you are wrong on one key point. If you are buying an SBS from and individual, or making one, you have to be 18 because it is a shotgun. However, and AOW is considered a pistol, and in many states, the age to possess a pistol is still 21. In a state like Indiana, where you can possess at 18 but have to be 21 to purchase, the aforementioned manufacturing route would work. But your local senior LEO will probably put the kabosh on the forms for a 19 year old to make an AOW, and in many states, would have legal grounds to do so.

Federal laws are one thing, state laws are another.

As far as the feds are concerned, an 18 year old can make an NFA firearm on a Form 1, or buy an NFA firearm from an in-state non-FFL on a Form 4.

If a CLEO signature isn't going to happen, an 18 year old can form a trust, LLC or corporation.

There's no reason you can't go hogging with it, you've just got to have big brass balls to get close enough hah
