I got a pair of Old Armies last week. One of them is perfect, and shoots like a dream. The other one... well.. dont know how it shoots yet.

When I was loading conicals into number 2 gun, I somehow managed to bend the cylinder pin!!

How are Ruger for returns? Should I just give them a call and ask for a new cylinder pin??

How do you get these out of the ROA's???

Ruger's customer service is excellent IIRC it comes out like the base pin on their SA revolvers. There is a spring loaded pin in the frame in front of the cylinder push it in from the left side and pull the ram assembly out.

Send the pin back and they'll straighten it for you - or replace it. More likely the former than the latter.

Call them first, you might not even need to send them the pin. Ruger custumer service is the best I've ever dealt with.

Ruger customer service is great though they can be a little slow if you return something for work. Give them a call and they'll get you set up. It might be wise to order a spare, just in case it happens again in the future.

How big was the truck

You were using for mechanical advantage?
I once sent my ROA back for re-blue; except for the barrel, frame I recieved a new pistol! All new springs screws, cylinder, even the grips were replaced.
No harsh words for Ruger from here!
robert P.S. this post is useless without pictures!

If I WAS to post a picture of the cylinder pin, you wouldnt really be able to notice where the problem is. The bend is perfectly on the notch that is secured by the frame screw to lock the cylinder pin in place.

And... no truck.. just a stupid guy who forgot to lock the pin before ramming a conical in.... and.. no, its no joke that conicals are harder to seat than balls.

My balls have never been a problem.

ROA service

I bought a used Stainless Steel ROA. It felt,,,,Funny. Sort of a crunchy feel as it was cocked. The trigger had a lot of creep and was a hard let off. I shot a couple cylinders through it and it still felt funny. I figured a piece of cap was somewhere down in the action. NOPE. Still had that funny feel after a full strip and clean. I even took it to Jule at Big Iron Barrels. He looked it over, said yep. Don't feel right at all. He said if I really wanted to, he would take it and work on it but would charge me for his time. He highly recommended I send it back to Ruger and let them do it for FREE. I checked with my financial adviser and she said Free was closer to my price range.

So sent it to ruger with a note describing the condition as best I could during the week between Christmas and new years.
They didn't acknowledge receipt until after the holidays. I got it back last week with a little note saying they replaced the trigger, hammer, hand and nipples.
Which was funny cuz I removed all the nipples from my guns after cleaning. Don't want to accidentally peen one over. Didn't expect them to send new nipples (but thanks if you are listening)
The funny feel is gone. The trigger breaks clean and I'm guessing at about 3 pounds. I have yet to shoot it with the weather but convinced I'll be happy with the results.
