SG question: Where do you shoot…how do you practice…what do you use for targets? I used to think my shooting club was quite sophisticated…what with their High Power Range, Cowboy shooting range, black powder range, archery range, et.al. It does not, however, make (many/much) provisions for shotguns. People smile knowingly when I show up with my pistols, some genuflect when I unsheathe my M1 Garand…but most sneer when I pull out my shotgun. “Um, we don’t shoot trap here”, or “This isn’t a skeet range”…good grief, I feel like a second class citizen when I tell them I just want to hone my skills in home defense shotgun shooting. I am a bit new to the SG…but realize that this is the weapon I need to practice with if I intend to use it for home defense. So, off to the multi-purpose range I go and gather up some impaled tire rims for target frames and attempt to make some kind of target. I wish I had access to some secluded woods/land where I could improvise. So…using what range facility I have, what would you suggest for targets and a practice exercise for a SG newbie?
