U.S. Army Sgt. Asan Akbar, the black Muslim convert accused of fragging and killing two commanding officers in Kuwait, studied Islam at a Saudi-funded mosque in Los Angeles.

As WorldNetDaily reported last spring, Riyadh bankrolled the construction of the Masjid Bilal Islamic Center and the Bilal Islamic Primary and Secondary School.

King Fahd of Saudi Arabia pledged between $7 million and $8 million to build a new mosque at the site of the Masjid Bilal Islamic Center, the large black mosque in South Central Los Angeles, according to Yvonne Yazbeck Haddad and Jane Idleman Smith, authors of "Muslim Communities in North America."

More, Saudi's Islamic Development Bank in 2000 committed an additional $295,000 to the center for the construction of the Bilal Islamic Primary and Secondary School there, according to Middle East Newsfile.

Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank is said to have financed some $19 billion worth of projects around the world.

According to a former Reagan defense official, nine of the U.S. armed forces' 14 Muslim chaplains received their religious training from another Saudi-backed entity, the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences, or GSISS, in Leesburg, Va.

Last year, federal law enforcement led by Treasury Department officials raided the offices of GSISS, along with 23 other Muslim groups allegedly tied to terrorist groups, notes Frank Gaffney, director of the Center for Security Policy.

Gaffney warns of a potential "fifth column" of Muslim subversives within the U.S. military.

What, like West Point? If it's not a federally-run military academy, then it's not "federally funded" the way these mosque schools are "Saudi-funded."

Federal funding does go to public schools, but it's a tiny amount. About 3% last time I checked. To give you an idea of the significance of 3%, yesterday CNN took a poll and reported that 3% of respondents believed Iraq is winning the war.

Actually, very few people claim that Wahabhism is "peaceful." Wahabhis tend to be very dogmatic and fundamentalist, and we all know where extreme dogma can lead. They have been know to go after OTHER MUSLIMS (like Sufis, who are very moderate) with violence in order to exterminate the "heresy."

That is a different thing from saying that Islam is a peaceful religion (it can be, as there are plenty of peaceful Muslims).

Furthermore, I know one highly intelligent serial killer who went to Harvard. We all know that Harvard trains highly intelligent people. So I guess Harvard caused this intelligent violence, eh?

I was being (trying) facetious- I guess it didn't fly:uhoh::)

80% of Islamic clerics here in the US overseeing local mosques are Wahabbists.

Why is anyone surprised this goober attended a Wahabbist mosque?

When will the press start batting around the legitimacy of the death penalty for "fragging" one's officers during war time?

Madrassas in our midst? Worrisome, but not as worrisome as the political indoctrination that goes on in our own public schools K-12 and on through graduate school. That is the real front in the global culture war.

That could be, considering that the Saudi government spends millions to promote Wahabhism around the world, including in the US, and send "missionaries."

But that is a different thing than stating a majority of Muslims in the US are Wahabhists. To my knowledge, Wahabhism is not the dominant Islamic sect in terms of the total number of adherents in the US.
