Please vote whether or not it would be worthwhile to hold a THR mock trial. I propose that if the poll is positive, we agree on a theoretical RKBA case that is not cut-and-dry and could, on it's face, go either way for the defendant. The charges must be for something that the majority of us who own or carry firearms could possibly find ourselves charged with after a particularly unlucky day. The story would follow this format:
Arrest phase:
1. A description of the incident that got our defendant in trouble.
2. Whether or not the defendant posted bail and went home.
Trial phase:
1. The arraignment,
2. Jury selection,
3. Pre-trial motions,
4. Introductory statements,
5. Presentation of evidence,
6. Testimony of witnesses and cross examinations,
7. Closing statements,
8. Jury deliberation, and
9. Either exoneration or,
10. Sentencing.
In order for this to work, we'd need volunteers to play the principal actors. The volunteers would have to be able to check up on the progress of the thread at least once a day, preferably more. We'd need:
1. The defendant
2. Counsel for the defense
3. The district attorney
4. The judge
5-19. The jury and two alternates
19-? The witnesses
So, possibly as many as twenty THR members would have to check the thread daily as to know when they're needed. Somehow, I don't think this would be a problem.
If the gun association word game can last for so long, how'bout something that will actually be useful when it's complete?
