Shell catcher

Years ago I recall seeing a bolt handle shell catcher on,I believe,a Rem.1100.. It looked like a two tined fork on the handle and would catch the ejected round on it's way out..Would only work on a single round I believe it was for trap shooters..
Sure would like to find one of these items..
Anybody remember and have any ideas about finding one ??

No help at all re the catcher but ... just a comment. Shot trap this evening and have had a habit for long time now (as have many no doubt) - of breaking the gun after a shot so that as it opens it (chamber mouths) comes to almost touch my shooting vest in front ..... this ''stifles'' the eject and then the case sits there ready to remove and reload. This of course assumes a full line of five and thus no rush.

It does avoid empty hull pick-ups anyways.

I haven't seen one of those "tuning fork" catchers in a loooong time.

Would one of the T&S catchers that clips on from the bottom edge of the ejection port to the bottom corner of the receiver work for you?

They are only about $10 from Brownell's, stock no 869-012-111 for the Teflon coated Remington 1100/11-87 model. They have them for various Berettas and Browning Gold. Available from about any place that sells trapshooting gear, too.

Rubber bands make a nice jury rigged shellcatcher. Position it about midway on the port, ahead of the handle. Works for singles only, of course...

I've never seen the type you described, but I regularly use the clip-on T&S shell-catchers when shooting trap. They are extremely simple and effective in use.

BTW, I used the rubber-band trick for a little while, but found that it would often migrate a little and after a few shots, wasn't working as well. So, I cut a 1/4" - 1/2" strip from an old mountain-bike tire and used that instead. It took a little wresting to get it over the receiver, but then stayed in place and worked nicely.

Oops ....... Duh! I shoulda read better .... 1100 of course not O/U ..... musta been the vodka!

I have a rather basic catcher I bought online ... coulda made it myself it turned out.

It's a soft wire frame with a small bag .. and it attaches to wrist with a velcro strap .... by bending it a bit you can get the bag where it's needed. I got this one mainly for Mini-14 useage .... but in use it is actually awkward and fiddly to get right.

I guess this could in principle do the trick for the 1100.

When I was looking for a new shotgun during the summer, I could not find a clip-on shellcatcher for the Super X2. At least as of a few months ago, T&S did not make one for that gun.
