If you really want to load 45acp, get the #45 plate. The #1 plate was listed in the past for 45acp and now it is not.
The #45 plate came about due to the rising number of customer requests and complaints about using the #1 plate for 45acp. At first it was a custom item only available from the factory (and not advertised) then they finally released it as a standard product.
The #1 plate works fine on my LnL AP... and I'm using all sorts of brass. I have heard that the #45 is supposed to be "better" than the #1 plate, but I've had no issues with my #1 plate.
You could always order a #1 plate and if it doesn't work for you, return it. I used a #1 plate for 45acp and the cases fit just loose enough to be annoying and occasionally catch on one of the dies.
If "I" were to buy a shellplate to load 45acp, I'd spend the extra to get a plate sized correctly for the caliber I'm loading. The #45 plate was still semi-custom when I had an LNL-AP.
The #1 shell plate is for common head size of 30.06/308/270/ etc.
The 45 ACP has the same size head as the above cartridges.
I have loaded 45 ACP with the #1 on my LNL and results were just OK. I bought the #45 from Grafs and the results are significantly better. Fewer, hangups, fewer crunched cases, etc.
When I got the #45 I miked it and compared it against the #1. There ARE differences between the two. (I don't remember the specifics). The #45 shell plate holds the 45 ACP much tighter with less "wiggle" room.
