Have you considered rebuilding your Sheridan with a 'Pyramid Air' kit? It isn't difficult.

Realize that the Pyramid kit will not necessarily fit older model C9's soldered valves, such as my 1972 Blue Streak. It fit my sister's HB-20 pistol (1998 vintage) perfectly and is supposed to fit that series Sheridans and Benjamins as well and is worth a try if you have a modicum of mechanical patience/ability.
Accent on the "patience" and internet searching for info/youtube vids a bonus.
Remember that the barrel, valve and chamber are BRASS and are significantly softer than any steel screw you might eventually decide to crossthread into them. I mean it!

I called crossman and the lady was able to tell me how to date my Sheridan and gave me the names and phone numbers of a couple of repair services in my area that worked on sheridan / benjamins.

i would take it to one of the places craftsman listed. it's been my experience that a dedicated airgun guru can get the job done faster and better than me. and the work is usually guaranteed.

There is a guy called Mac1 who is regarded as one of the best Sheridan smiths.
He also does high powered "steroid" tunes on the Sheridan.
