Sheriff wants to conduct their own bankground check

I would like to add to my earlier post that I'm not anti-cop and realize there are good ones and bad ones as in any profession. The county I now reside in has a good sheriff who fully supports 2nd amendment rights and encourages honest citizens to obtain a CCW...he also has stated by letter to the Federal government that he will in no way support or enforce any action by the Feds which would take away the citizen's RTKBA...when the Forest service was conducting illegal road-blocks in our forest and harassing citizens, he shut them down, citing his as the final authority for the people of Grant Co. He was overwhelmingly re-elected last year...

I still have not heard back from VCDL (3 emails and 1 phone call). I will update next week to let you know if I hear anything. I would expect at least a courtesy response. If I don't hear back from them, they will have one less member.

Received and response from VCDL...bottom line, unless it is required by law, it can be ignored. They will send out a warning to everyone on their VA-ALERT distribution list telling them about the "request" of the Stafford SO.
