Make no mistake this is not my toy. When I told Sheslinger that we got "our" new M1 Carbine in the mail today she looked at me with a perplexed look and said in a questioning manner...."OUR?"

"Yes, our new M1 Carbine." I replied with a smile. I had already cleaned up OUR new M1 Carbine so we kind of bonded.

"Oh, you mean MY new M1 Carbine came in the mail." She said with a grin.

Well whats mine is hers and what's hers is hers so here is a couple of pictures of Sheslingers new M1 Carbine.

It is an Inland receiver and a Winchester Barrel. The barrel is bright and rifling very strong. Overall the rifle was very clean with only a few little spots of rust in a couple of nooks and crannies and a little surface rust on the buttplate.

The action is tight and everything seems to be in perfect working order. The stock is beautiful for a war baby.

We, I mean, She got the rifle, 3 30 round magazines, 2 15 round magazines, magazine butt pouch, sling, and oiler for $450 which isn't bad as far as we were concerned. Even beat up GI imports were going for $500 and $600 at the shows with one 15 round mag. So we got a great looking shooter with a little bit of history to boot. We are both happy and that is all that matters.

Anyway here are the pics.

Nice!

Tighten up the front band a bit if it's loose - an easy way to add a little accuracy, according to a guy I know who restores carbines and M1s.

Yeah sometimes you can tune the rifle by adjusting the tension of the barrel band. Does that mag pouch have a button in the middle, as if for a web belt, that might scratch your stock? I'm wondering cause i want one for mine but the one i have seems to be made for a belt.

Yummy,

Congrats Ma'am. That's a good looking carbine, and a great price!
I'm not envious, I'm happy for you... really! ;) Have fun.

My carbine is one of my favorites. Dad bought it from the NRA back in the 60's for about $30. Probably the first rifle I ever shot.
It's all Inland, great bore and still shoots good.
When I was young & dumb I sanded the stock down and refinished it, sanded out all those "silly stamp marks" :fire: Sure wish I had left it alone now. BTW, the finish is brown shoe polish. Has held up remarkably well.

Lady...

That is one nice rifle! I also like the way you display it next to that green lamp. You can sit and stare at it.

Cslinger: That "What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine" thing is just the way it is. <shrug> 20 or 30 years and you'll get used to it. :)

post range report

cslinger, please let us know how it does at the range.
I almost bought an Inland made in 1944, but have yet to make the step. I read the CorBon may start making a .30 caliber Pow'r Ball. This would make it a nice self defense rifle.
Keep us posted.

Dang Sisco. That's one great photo and using the flag as a backdrop, wonderful! OK, nice close up photos by CSslinger too.
