In Tn you can legally ship a long gun in state from person to person. I went to a FedEx office location and they showed me in black and white where FedEx won't ship without it being from FFL to FFL. I heard UPS is more strict than FedEx. Can anyone advise?

You can ship a firearm (excluding handguns), from a UPS daily pickup account, UPS On-Call Pickup, One-Time Pickup, or a UPS Customer Center. Note: Firearms are not accepted for shipment through UPS Internet Shipping, UPS Drop Boxes, or at The UPS Store or any third party retailer.
See the terms and conditions in the UPS Tariff/Terms and Conditions of Service for information regarding firearm shipments.

Or............you could just mail the rifle through USPS.

You are correct. FedEx is very anti-gun with their policies.

UPS will accept all legal shipments, and as mentioned, you can always ship a long gun via the U.S. mail.

CMP shipped my Garand via Fedex.
The CMP is exempt from quite a few laws, and being a part of the U.S. Gov., I suspect FedEx isn't gonna say "no" to them as they will to an individual.

Maybe YOUR FedEx is .... but I use FedEx as my primary carrier, using the discount I have through my membership in the National Shooting Sports Federation.

As an FFL I ship/receive guns from them just about every day.

Gunbroker is also about to start up a discounted FedEx shipping program.

Ya, they for sure sound Anti-gun to me.

CMP was originally chartered by Congress, but they are not part of the US Government, and receive no funding from them.

If you are shipping over a state line, -no one- can ship -to- any one other than an FFL. There is no requirement, that I know of, that the shipper also be an FFL. I have individuals ship to me all the time.

If your local FedEx office has their heads up their collective butts, just take it to the Post Office or UPS. LONG GUN only, no handguns.

There are no -Federal- restrictions on in-state shipments.

Note that company policy is not law. And, within a company, local offices can be staffed with people who may have their own ideas about what will or will not be shipped, regardless of law or policy.

And the OP has been answered...
