Y'all shoulda been there! I had so much fun and learned a lot of great concepts.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to participate in SouthNarc's PUC, and ECQC 1 & 2 . This class is even better than the last iteration I took. I was happy to meet & train with some new, as well as some old training partners. We worked hard, learned some new skills and practiced their application. I know I was feeling the tiredness and sense of true accomplishment on the drive home.

I really believe this is MUST HAVE training.

"We spent the first half of each day on the range, working dry and live fire drills. We learned the combative drawstroke and shooting from "2" through a progression (based on proximity of threat) of extension and compression.

The second half of each day involved learning then applying MUC, combatives, weapons access/retention/disarms from in holster & drawn, standing and grounded positions, etc. These skills and concepts were then practiced in a series of live drills and force-on-force evolutions.

part 2 of SouthNarc's class review

We were also lucky to have some bonus vehicle evolutions (VBJJ=vehicle Brazilian jiu jitsu). This was a definite eye opener and a great learning experience for everyone.

A few observations:

If the BG has hands on, it makes a huge difference in your gun handling decisions and defense options.

Shooting paper targets is a good start, but should not be the end of your handgun training.

If you really want to learn about defending yourself (or your loved ones) with a firearm, you need to be honest to the problem and then work toward solutions to solve the problem.

I highly recommend training with SouthNarc.

SoutNarc's training is both very humbling & enlightening. If you can only take one class this (or next) year, make it one of his.

I observed this class last month in N.H.
I was with two friends who are both European police officers and former military who currently teach at their academies.
They were very impressed with the content and say that their is nothing in Europe that teaches these vital skills.
A good show.

I fully agree. Self defense may well commence at 0 yards range, when the BG already has hands on you. As S'narc puts it, sometimes your awareness fails. Everyone who is serious about self defense needs to work on these skills, and there is no better instructor (and few as good) that I know of in that arena as Southnarc.

Thanks for the AAR, gastong30.

Thank you for the link and sharing your experience. This looks very interesting.

I'm trying to get other folks together to do something like this. Just wish San Antonio could attract some of these good folks.

Heck Rokyudai, you should have joined us. It was held near Katy.

Well, hopefully now since I have the site marked, I can keep up on their schedule. I have never had this level of training before and would love to learn.
