Hey,

I have a benelli nova pump 28'' barrel and i have never shot slug with it. in fact i never shot slug at all.

what i'd like to know is if i would have to change the barrel for a rifled barrel and if its harmfull to drill in a scope, i heard the balance of the scoped nova was lousy

thanks

Welcome aboard, Charles.

What's the expected longest shot distance? Where I hunt, 50 yards is far and a bead serves well enough.

Your present barrel may serve as is for shots up to 50 yards, IF you're up to it.

As always, you have to test and find the slug that your shotgun "Likes".

Just pop in an improved cylinder choke and use rifled slugs and you are good to go.

I HIGHLY recommend the rifled slug barrel for the nova. I have one with a 1X4 Bushnell Banner Dusk to Dawn. Each gun has its individual preference for, mine likes BRI Slugs, or Remington Corelockts

To keep costs down, you can work with what you have as is...certainly is worth trying.

You can expect 2" groups at 40-50 yards with rifled slugs. As far as I am concerned...that is a great deer gun.

yeah im anxious to try it out but in my area there are not alot of open field shooting range and indoors shooting ranges dont accept shotguns.. i'll need to find some sandpitt :O

went to the gunshop this morning, asked the guy about this

he said he ordered 2000 boxes of "Challenger" slugs for unriffled barrels, planned to arrive next week and it would be perfect for my Nova

any more infos on those challenger slugs?

My old man is a long time slug hunter...he swears that the Federal Truballs are the best there is for soothe barrel. They are less than a $1 a pop too.
