I'm just glad that when Presidents visit up here in Anchorage, they stay put at the AFB and we never even know they were here. The best federal gov'ment is one that never comes to visit!

This is just standard CYA procedure folks.

Ask for everything that you can possibly think of, knowing that at least some of it will be turned down. Then, if anything happens to W, they can say "Well don't blame us, we asked for more firepower/subway shutdowns/whatever and the Brits turned us down -- it is their fault not ours."

This is how it works -- and everybody knows it, including the Brits.

I'm having trouble imagining how they'd use a GE minigun to defend the President.
Not against them having one, just trying to figure a scenario where it could be used. I would expect they have LAW rockets and Stingers for antiaircraft use.

I thought one of the most salient advantages of a republic over other forms of government is that the servants of the people are easily replaceable. Not trying to be facetious, just think the people that work for me and you should have their roles put in perspective.
