Does anyone shoot cast bullets in a Sub2000 or Ruger PCC? I load mostly cast for practice rounds and wondered if they will work in these rifles. My 9mm pistols seem to do pretty well with cast bullets.

If you use gas checks, should be no problem.
If using regular cast bullets, depending on the bullet shape and hardness you may have leading issues.
I've shot a small amount of Podium bronze coated and Missouri Bullets with no issues.

I shot some through a KelTec carbine I had.
120gr Lee TC with SPG lube sized .356”. Shot fine (5.2gr of LongShot).

Just don’t expect a Lee Tumble Lube bullet using Lee liquid alox to shoot without key-holing.

Added: If you don’t cast yourself, I wouldn’t bother with cast. I’d shoot RMR Jacketed. Given the price of shipping, you can’t beat his prices or value.

I typically shoot Acme or Gallant Hi-tech coated cast bullets. I've not had any leading from either my 9mm or my 357 Mag Blackhawk. Some of the Blackhawk loads were pretty spicy and I have some spicier ones to test still. I shot a batch of Hunters Supply cast bullets with traditional lube in my 9's too, but was only using a minimum charge of W231 powder.

You will pick up some velocity with the carbine; if you're not pushing the bullets too hard, they should work just fine.
I've drifted away from bare lead bullets the last while.

I shoot Bear Creek Supply moly coated bullets in my .38/.357 rifles but in my revolvers they are traveling around 850-900 fps, depending on load recipes. Out of the rifles they are probably going around 1000-1100 fps. I do not own a chronograph.
I have not tried BCS bullets in 9mm, but I seem to recall someone at BCS telling me that their bullets should perform just fine at 1200 fps.
Maybe I will call them today to verify that.

Thanks for that recommendation. I didn’t know about RMR. I have been looking for another bullet resource for FMJ bullets. Thank You.

Not only are they superior bullets (Eley USA is using them to load factory ammo) They also offer a discount to THR members.
Owner is a member, too.

I have shot thousands of the acme 124 coated through both my ruger pcc and a su2000. no issues with either, but I don't push them very hard.

I use Acme coated for general short range target use. I load RMR 100gr FMJ for better performance (approximately 1400fps) and longer range up to 100 yds.

There are lots of options to explore with 9mm carbines. It all depends on what you use it for.

I shoot them all the time. Only "issue" is slightly more fouling in the action. Not hard to clean at all.

I use the Lee 105 grain SWC mostly. WW alloy and water dropped. Titegroup as the powder. Lube is Johnson's Paste Wax with a bit of Vaseline and Alox.

I shoot the Lee 124 grain round nose through my 9mm pistols and carbines. Cast with range scrap alloy. I powder-coat them with Eastwood powder-coat and size to .358. In guns with tighter chambers I size to .357. No leading, and very accurate.

Revisited this thread; considering the price of primers currently, just shoot plated or jackets.
The cost of the bullets themselves is the least of your troubles.
