It’s kind of funny in a way.
Back when I was a young’n and there were three networks along with maybe two or three local independents there were some good hunting shows. The one that sticks in my mind the best was Wild Cargo, hosted by the late Arthur Jones. That was the show that featured a clip of him killing an African elephant with a stock 1911 by shooting it point blank behind the ear. The cameraman had some guts as well because he was so close behind Jones blood could be seen spattering on the lens.
I am showing my age but I also remember the days of 4 channels rabbit ear antenas and watching george perot's world of adventure and wild kingdom with my dad on sundays...not exactly hunting but brings back good memories

Top Shots was an interesting show. The wife even watched it with me.
My wife and I watched it. She encouraged me to audition. I had my video and my neurosurgeon said I'd be an idiot. I had spinal fusion later that year. Great show. Host lost on Survivor twice.

The original American Sportsman on ABC. Curt Gowdy and Grits Gresham hosted the best Hunting and Fishing show ever produced. Hunting the big five, upland game or going for blue marlin with big name celebrities still stick in my minds eye. I wish they’d have saved the original shows on video. Totally politically incorrect in our time now. There are some things from the good old days that were really wonderful.
