Recently picked up a very nice stainless 945 and got some trigger time in with it today. This is my third 945. Is it possible that a person can just not shoot a particular gun well, even on try number three? It isn't that I didn't shoot it well, but compared to the S&W 645 that I also took with me, I shot the 645 so much better. The 945 seemed to have a slow trigger reset and my groupings were not as tight as with the 645. Can it be that I just need to practice with this gun more than with my other 45's? Anyone else experience this? The previous day I took a new to me 659 and I couldn't believe the groupings I got with this gun. I may actually shoot this better than my 5906. This is why I am a bit puzzled about the 945.

If I have my Taurus models correct, the 945 is a bit thinner than a 1911 in the grips and has a longer trigger reach. The combination makes it not a great shooter in my hand either.

I also don't shoot Glocks very well as they never fit me right, although the new Gen 4 model shot very well for me when I finally got to try one.

Ditto on the Glocks, I sold all of mine in the past year. I will have to line up the 945 to my 1991A1 to see how much of a difference there is. You may have a point about the trigger reach.

No, I had a 945, and it's a lame duck (mine was anyway). Sold with extreme prejudice, and I've been an HK/GLOCK guy ever since.

Re: Pt945

If that is what you are talking about the PT 945,it was 2 of the reasions that I quit buying from TAURUS. I bought 2 brand new in box. neather 1 would work, you never knew when it would fire.I tryed 4 brands of ammo, & there were 3 shooters. I sent them back to the factory a total of 6 times . I was told that we wre limp wristing it,or that they had replaced the slide or this and that.Bottem line I ended up letting them go back to the dealer at a big loss.I blame TAURUS & the dealer. I cannot understand TAURUS at all, these were NIB from the dealer & they(TAURUS) have a life time warrenty, but that is worthless if they will not fix broken firearms sent out that way. 1 PT945 messing up I can put down to bad Q.C. but 2, and then not to fix it after beening sent back that many times,I relly have to give that some thought. AS for GLOCKS I have 3 and would not give them up.The 1911 has always felt fine & the grip on the S&W sigma feels good in these old hands even w/artritis. I have learned that the best advice is still use what feels & shoots the best for you.GOD bless the REPUBLIC OF THE U.S.A.

Taurus has a very different trigger then the S&W. I have trouble going from one type gun like that and then shooting another. I remember shooting a Hi Power and a S&W Sigma. Same results as you, the trigger on the Hi Power was so sweet it made me look good, then I switched to the Sigma and it took me awhile to adjust.
If I take out two guns that are so different now, I take a break between guns, clean them, load mags, whatever and deal with each gun on it's own, not compare the two.
Give yourself time with the Taurus and you can learn it's trigger and become a better shot with it.
And not to put Taurus down, I like them, but it will never be a 645.
